Guy Few & Stephanie Mara

Trumpet, Corno and Piano

Guy and Stephanie are a force to be reckoned with.  Two artists with technique to burn and an artistic drive that is a joy to experience.  The duo is in demand for festivals in Canada and the USA including the Ottawa International Chamber Festival, the Elora Festival, Festival of the Sound and Quad City Arts.  They have toured for Prairie Debut in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the Yukon, performed in Iqaluit for the celebrations of the visit of HRH Queen Elizabeth II and recorded their own Indie CD, Vocalise.  Guy and Stephanie are sessional lecturers at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Stephanie Mara 

Piano

Canadian pianist, Stephanie Mara received an Associate Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor Degree in Piano performance from Wilfrid Laurier University, where she studied with Garth Beckett.  She is a collborative pianist and coach for WLU, where she works with students majoring in brass, bassoon, clarinet and cello.  Stephanie has performed in recital and gala events with Canadian soloists James Campbell, Alistair Kay and jasper Wood.  She performs on a regular basis with trumpeter/pianist Guy Few and flutist Laurel Swinden in Canada and the USA.  Both duos have CDs to their credit - Vocalise for Guy and Stephanie and Celebrating Canadian Women for Laurel and Stephanie.  Festival appearances include the Elora Festival, The Festival of the Sound, Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival and Barrie Colours of Music.  Stephanie’s broadcast credits encompass Bravo, CBC radio and NPR.

Guy Few 

Trumpet, Corno and Piano

Guy Few’s instrumental versatility and fearless interpretations have been noted by the international press, "outrageous...simply phenomenal" (Le Devoir, Montreal) and “sheer brilliance” (L.A. Times). He has performed with many Canadian and US orchestras as both trumpet and piano soloist, remains a committed chamber artist in ensembles Few Mara duo, Bellows and Brass, Few and Fewer, Spirit 20, Sounding Thunder and Project Aria, and has been a guest at many festivals including The Festival of the Sound, Tanglewood, Takefu International Music Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, Sweetwater, Elora Festival and Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival. 

A prolific recording artist, Guy has released CDs on numerous labels including S.N.E., Arsis Classics, CBC SM5000, Naxos, Hänssler Classics and MSR Classics labels. Recording awards include a JUNO nomination, (CCP/g27/Paetkau/MSR), and Best Classical Orchestral Album from Just Plain Folks Music Awards (Bacchanale/TCO/Kevin Mallon/MSR). Guy has appeared on CBC-TV, CTV, BRAVO, TV5 and European television broadcasts and is heard regularly on CBC Radio, and NPR. He is a sessional lecturer at Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario, Canada, where he coaches chamber music and teaches trumpet. Guy Few is a Yamaha artist.
